Antique walnut chest, 18th century

The marked wood of this antique chest of drawers envelops this living room furniture piece like a fortress, with a design that is more than ever

current.

The external structure in hand-worked walnut suspends it lightly despite its considerable weight.

The doors, also in walnut, are decorated with fragments of antique inlays recovered from period tables. In seeking unity, the fragments are arranged and attracted to each other without ever rejoining. The empty spaces between them are delineated by an inlaid magnolia wood strip.

Walnut, elm and resin chest of drawers – 17th century.

A modern living room sideboard created with a 17th-century chest… an extraordinary journey through time.

Wood worked by time, fossil, with a brazenly contemporary design.

Of the ancient walnut chest, moved over the years between houses and shops, almost nothing remained, an empty shell...

After a conservative restoration, it was overturned to accommodate the internal structure and the doors, made in the “River” style from a single elm plank.

Despite its new functionality, the interventions are reversible and do not damage the original structure.
